How fast is it possible to learn a foreign language? You see products that claim to teach you to speak in weeks or even days. I am trying to learn Spanish fast, but as with any other language it is a long and tiring process that take months and even years to become proficient. It is possible to learn some Spanish very fast, but you will find that will mostly be swear words and slang terms that wont really get you anywhere when it comes to actual conversation.

Sometimes I have dreams with a few of the Spanish words I know in them but they unfortunately normally revolve around how dumb I am and how I don’t know any other words. Of course some people are able to learn Spanish very fast, or any other language for that matter, simply because they have what is frequently called an “ear or languages”. I wish I was one of those people.

Not matter how well you learn languages I have to say that I agree with the school of though that says the best way is through immersion. Living in a country that speaks the language is by far the best way to truly learn a language. You can also read books, listen to tapes, and use interactive software. Or there is another more novel method I found that involves learning through music. While this sounds interesting and kind of fun I have to say the words used in the lyrics to the Latin songs I have encountered here are not the words I would want to be learning.

To truly learn Spanish fast and well a nice combination of all the above mentioned methods would be nice. To live in the country, listen to tapes and music, read books, use software, and speak nothing but the language would be ideal and probably very successful. Unfortunately no one really has the time this would entail so we must instead settle for a long, drawn out, frustrating process.

How to Learn Spanish the Right Way

Learning how to speak French clearly has to be one of the more difficult languages to learn in amoungst the many other european languages.Although in general, I suppose any language is difficult to learn.Having said this, you have probably heard most people tell you that it requires much dedication and perseverence to learn a language, and that only people who have “photographic” memories will succeed in being being able to fluently speak a foreign language. Some will go on and say that the only way to learn a language is to travel to another country and hear the language spoken in conversation.Although this is very helpful,it is not entirely necessary. At the end of the day it is the people who are truly passionate and determined to speak a foreign language who will put in the required effort whether or not they have good memory abilities or the “natural Talent”.It’s all about having the end picture in mind and using the right techniques to learn the language. But then how does one go about learning a foreign language? Well, most people including myself will go out and purchase these “language phrase” books which teach you the most common phrases spoken by your desired language. These books are great, however they do not give you the comprehensive understanding of how and why those sentence phrases are constructed,as well as the meaning of the individual words which make up the sentence. You clearly have to start off learning the basics in understanding grammar, words, tenses, use of verbs and the list goes on.So now you have the different options? You can either go and attend lectures given by an expert in that language, or you can do it yourself in the comfort of your own home. I take myself for example. I tried to learn Spanish, so I started out with these “phrase books” and they were great because I could learn the sentences like a parrot, but soon found myself asking the who, how, what and why questions about the sentence structures and other complex issues. Now there are many different ways to go about learning foreign languages, but I made use of “Rocket Spanish” course. If you want an in depth and comprehensive language learning package, this is the one for you. Please check out my homepage below for more information on this Foreign language course

Learn Spanish On The Internet -It Couldn’t Be Easier

Like just about anything these days learning Spanish is a service that can be found on the internet. Nowadays it is possible to order just about anything you want on the internet, so much so that you could probably live a very long time without ever having to leave your house or interact with another human being. How you can learn a language this way though is lost on me.

I guess it is possible to memorize words and grammar rules. You can gain an understating of the structure of the language and learn how to write and read; however speaking is a different matter. Personally I think if you learn Spanish only on the internet you are missing some of the important nuances that exist in the language. Your pronunciation will probably be horrible as you will have no one to correct you. Your conversational skills will definitely be lacking as you will have no basic knowledge of how to hold a conversation in Spanish.

In theory I assume it is possible to “learn” the words and form of the language on the internet but you will have no grasp of intonation or the many colloquial phrases used in everyday conversation; these of course being mostly specific to the country in which you are speaking.

There are many sites to learn Spanish on the internet, offering varying levels of assistance. Most require the purchase of software for true help as one would expect. They are worth it if you have no other way, but will probably leave you at a severe deficit when it comes to actually speaking.

I think the language is valuable, and I recommend to all that are able, to relocate to a Spanish speaking country where you can learn not only the language but also about the culture from which it stems.

Learn Spanish Online – Amazingly Simple

The invention of the internet has made everything easier right? You can now shop online, send letters, find information at the drop of a hat, even find your house in satellite pictures on Google Earth. However, you would of course think that as learning a language involves speaking, this is something you would not be able to do online. You would be wrong. If you type learn Spanish online into Google you get approximately 72 million results. Now as with anything else, I am sure most of these are useless but you see my point.

There are now many websites that allow you free access to conversation exercises and vocabulary drills among other things. My personal favorite is LearnSpanish.com. I am sure it is structured much like its competitors however when I find something I like I tend to stick with it. This site allows you access to an amazing amount of drills and exercises for free. It of course also has another more extensive version that you have to pay for as I am sure most of the websites do.

So you can very simply sit in front of your computer and commence your lessons. My one recommendation though, is that if you plan to learn Spanish online, do not do what I did and go to an internet café to do so. If you do not have a computer try to find a friend that will let you borrow a laptop or come to their house to study. Trust me when I say it is very difficult to do pronunciation drills with 20 people who all speak the language perfectly sitting around and looking at you like you have lost your mind.

Of course it is probably close to impossible to actually learn Spanish solely online as it is quite necessary to hear the pronunciation and practice with actual human beings in order to be able to carry on a conversation. However if you are looking for some base knowledge to work with the internet provides a wealth of possibilities.

How to Learn Spanish Fast

Brian Cliette asked:

There are many ways, which profess that would make you learn the language fast. Every day there are new methods coming up in the market that promises this very thing. Normally speaking, one would need about three months of concentrated effort to learn the basics of a new language and be able to make a decent (and very basic) conversation.

However, there is one method which is fail-proof and can give you full assurance that you could learn Spanish in less than that. This method is ‘living in a Spanish-speaking dominated area’ where you could self-impose an exile from the English language. If you use this method, you will find that one month is more than sufficient for anyone to pick up this language, given the fact that it is very similar to English in many ways.

There are other ways as well. As I has mentioned earlier there are a good number of programs, which advertise as being able to teach Spanish in very short periods. Those, which are self-driven need to be avoided if you are in a hurry because one tens to take it easy when you have the reigns in your hands. Rather, you should take up regular crash course classes, where the tempo and classes are demanding.

These classes could be complemented at home wither by conversing with someone who knows excellent Spanish, or through reading. Ensure that you get plenty of whichever method you choose. These two methods are the only ones that would make anyone fast-forward the learning process, if at all.

1. Conversation – because once you start talking the brain is forced to think and get the right word. This exercise would make the task of searching and matching the right word a little less difficult with time, and then you will gain the fluency you would be looking for. This is because after sometime of continuous conversation, the brain would have learnt by heart certain phrases and words and hence does not need to wait and identify the right choice of words.

2. Reading – because by reading you are exposed to the correct usage of the language and its most popular phrases. It is easy to assimilate the use of the language in this way and hence, be able to recollect and reproduce it when you converse yourself. The reading material should be such that it holds the interest of the reader, and use grammatically and politically correct language.

3. Audio-visuals – you would need to use a very good set of CD-ROMs when you learn any foreign language. Because, side by side with the written word you would also have to learn the correct pronunciation and accent, which unless you hear them spoken again and again, you would not be able to perfect.
